Courtesy of Tahsin Kabir and Paul Ruth comes a new entry in the ExoBlog explaining how to create your own custom OS image for a VM without using the playpen. We have developed a new script that will be integrated into the NEuca tools soon (but can be downloaded now) that can scrape the necessary portions of your running image and help you create a new one. You can also use the storage slivering capabilities of the ExoGENI racks to create volumes on which the images can be saved.

Please take a look:

We anticipate retiring the ExoGENI playpen in the near future, as its use turned out to be awkward. This procedure should make things a lot easier for the experimenters.
