We are often asked about creating custom images for the GENI racks.   At GEC20 the ExoGENI team unveiled a new script that can snapshot running ExoGENI VMs.    We can now report that the script can be used to create ExoGENI images from VMs created in Virtual Box (and likely other virtualization platforms).    This method for creating images should work for many Linux distributions and the ExoGENI team has sucessfully tested it with virtual machines using Debian 7.5,  Ubuntu 14.04, and Centos 6.5.
