I've tried to get a host with CentOS 6.3 at a few different aggregates and all so far have returned:

Output: Unknown image URN: urn:publicid:IDN+emulab.net+image+emulab-ops:CENTOS63-64-STD

Is this image still available?

What about CentOS 7.* images?

It's still advertised at all the sites (I've looked at so far) for raw-pcs.

Hi Fei,

I did listresources at UtahDDC IG [1] and see that the following image CentOS image exists:
urn:publicid:IDN+utahddc.geniracks.net+image+emulab-ops:CENTOS66-64-STD

A couple of weeks ago we had a similar question asked on geni-users@ [2] and no one was interested in the 6.3 image and so I think it got deleted (but perhaps the advertisement still has it and shouldn't).

Will CentOS 6.6 do the trick?   Or do you need another version?

Thanks,
Sarah

PS I'm looking now at the advertisements to see if they are erroneous showing the CentOS 6.3 image as still available.  If so, I'll get those cleaned up.

We deleted the “system” images, not the ones that users had imported
on their own. I can delete the ones in the ch-geni-net project too,
if you like.

Hi Sarah,

6.6 will do just fine.  Thanks.  I see it just now with OMNI, just not in Jacks in GENI Portal.

I see it in Jacks, but they appear to not be ordered alphabetically.

I see it too, if I haven't selected an aggregate.  As soon as I selected an InstaGENI aggregate the 6.6 image becomes "Unavailable":

Correction: Any aggregate _other_ than Apt will not let you pick CentOS 6.6.

And just now my attempt to get a XenVM on Apt running CentOS 6.6 failed...  Will try again

I just updated the CENT0S66 image, give it another try.

There is also a CENTOS71-64-STD image you can try.

Hi Leigh,

I tried getting a VM with CentOS 6.6 on some IG racks.

1. It failed at max-ig
(https://www.instageni.maxgigapop.net/spewlogfile.php3?logfile=2645829aa1eb3fe710c5ac63887fb6e0).
It looks like the AM does not recognized by the image URN. Perhaps
the image has not been cached at all racks?
It succeeded at Utah DDC.
The createsliver succeeded at Cornell but the VM never became ready.
My slice is called centos.

2. umkc-ig is still advertizing a CentOS 6.3 image and not CentOS 6.6 image.

3. This is probably a Portal/Jacks issue: If I select CentOS 6.6, none
of the IG racks are valid sites. Or, if I select an IG rack for my
site, CentOS 6.6 is not a valid OS. I had to override Jacks to get VMs
running CentOS. [This was also reported by Fei.]

I tried using OMNI to provision one at northwestern-ig, once with

name="urn:publicid:IDN+emulab.net+image+emulab-ops:CENTOS66-64-STD"

and another with

name="urn:publicid:IDN+instageni.northwestern.edu+image+emulab-ops:CENTOS66-64-STD"

as <disk_image > parameter

both ended up running Ubuntu12.04 when it came up

Hi Leigh,

I just tried to use the Centos 7.1 image at Case Western and I got and unknown image error:
Failed CreateSliver for slice urn:publicid:IDN+ch.geni.net:SampleTutorial+slice+testcentos at cwru-ig. Error from Aggregate: code 1. protogeni AM code: 1: Unknown image URN: urn:publicid:IDN+emulab.net+image+emulab-ops:CENTOS71-64-STD

I didn't find it in a few ad rspecs I looked at (including emulab's one).

Thanks,
Niky

Just to warn you Case has a  filled up partition on ops which may cause VMs to fail.
cheers,

yep good point, glad I didn't hit that problem:-)

Also I just verified the bug that Fei ran into.
I just tried the Centos 6.6 image and got the same behavior (my node got booted with Ubuntu 12.04).

Slice name: testcentos
Aggregate: cenic-ig
Logs: https://www.instageni.cenic.net/spewlogfile.php3?logfile=1a81e0d5c3866d9b8ab6c7ccf0956539

Any idea why?

Thanks,
niky

Hi,

This issue has been resolved you should be able to use this urn to get a xen VM running centos as of this morning.

urn:publicid:IDN+emulab.net+image+emulab-ops:CENTOS66-64-STD

Let us know if you run into any trouble.
