Good morning,

I am trying to use resources available in virtualwall 1/2 and am facing this error "AM im-vw1 failed getversion (empty): Unknown SSL error: [SSL: WRONG_VERSION_NUMBER] wrong version number (_ssl.c:618)"

I am able to successfully use instaGeni resources though these sites seem to have a configuration issue?

Warm regards,
Aaron

Hello,

Those sites use an older version of SSL that has long been deprecated by openSSL and now unsupported. GENI no longer works with sites using those deprecated SSL versions.

Thanks good to know. I am also noticing that a lot of the NYU's vms do not let you login and are instead returning:

fatal: [pcvm4-32.genirack.nyu.edu]: UNREACHABLE! => {"changed": false, "msg": "Failed to connect to the host via ssh: Warning: Permanently added 'pcvm4-32.genirack.nyu.edu,192.86.139.88' (ECDSA) to the list of known hosts.\r\nReceived disconnect from 192.86.139.88 port 22:2: Too many authentication failures\r\nDisconnected from 192.86.139.88 port 22", "unreachable": true}

This is on brand new provisioned VM first time i try and connect to it. I drive configure a few nodes via ansible script and several are failing with this message. It seems like weird issue, not sure..

Any suggestions?

Okay, I try again and reply back shortly.

Is there anyway to change the sizing of the VMs?

Yes , but it has to be done in the request before creating the VM. There are multiple post on the mailing list regarding this process.

Thanks will take a look.

Is there a python script which can make easy to run and configure available that you can share?

There is a python tool , but its used to provision create and renew slices only. Not to configure the resources. The python tool is outdated too and does not work on modern linux flavors due to the same openSSL version issues.

I am searching the mailing list, do you happen to have an example of this, it’s not possible to do via the online web portal right?

No. Well you first draw the toplogy in the web ui. Do not submit it. Instead download the rspec (xml) then edit it using a text editor to add the additional config and then re-upload it back to submit.

Thanks Hussam,

That helps a lot I have downloaded the xml file and added this section to it: <emulab:xen cores="2" ram="2048" disk="30"/>

Do you know what the limit of cores and ram that you can add here? Is the VM counts number of cores on this page ? https://flsmonitor.fed4fire.eu/genitests

There is always a limit that cannot exceed beyond the existing physical capabilities. Bu7t those values are not exposed because these can be over provisioned.
