Any suggestions for serious server hosting providers in Switzerland.

We are specifically looking for a mid-sized provider that will provide service to a client with 4-8 servers, preferably including OS patches and full firewall support.

Previously hosted with Savvis in the U,.K. They are top of the Gartner magic quadrant and all that, but gave us really poor service as we were too small.

Thanks,

Craig

Hi,

I have a client that went through a tough selection process and chose to work with Safehost http://www.safehost.ch/ . They are based in Geneva and offer high-end hosting solutions.

You may also consider DFI http://www.dfi.ch/. I have worked with them quite a bit with no issues, I have heard mixed reviews from other people though.

Hope it helps!

Kind regards,

Alexander Teleki

Hi Craig,

I use Kreativ Media in Zurich, they are the size you are looking at. Pretty flexible with services.
Now, you need to know that in CH the cost of servers is much higher than in the US....

SafeHost are not bad, also contact Equinix. Both have data centers in Geneva (Lignon and Plan-les-Ouates). 4-8 servers, is this already configured servers that just need a new home, virtualisation or a new setup?

regards from a stormy Zurich

Hi Craig,

I met a couple of companies in the eCom this year. There was one I will definitely use in the future for hosting: Exoscale. It is a cloud based company (Swiss for privacy issues) and uses open stack technology which is the way to go. It is even cheaper than amazon. Take a look:

A couple more I met but did not looked into detail:

I have heard positive anecdotes about Infomaniak, although I have no
direct experience with them. They are based in Geneva and have been
around at least since the mid-90's.

Good luck,

Hi Craig,

Over the years, I have found Infomaniac, based in Switzerland,  very reliable. Their online support is quite good and they also do answer the phone calls.  https://www.infomaniak.com/

I'm in the web development since 13 years, and I'm from Geneva.

Kreativmedia is one of the best services in Switzerland, with their own data centers hosted in 3 different places in Zurich area.

Infomaniak is ok, but they don't give much love to their clients! I really don't advise them.

Hi Craig -

Check out DFI.  Forget whether they are Geneva or Lausanne, but a local, smaller than Infomaniak, and well recommended.

Regards, Sam

Craig,

if you don't need physical access to your servers, one other option to consider is iWeb in Canada - bandwidth is significantly cheaper than in Switzerland, and they offer 100 MBit ports unmetered. We host all our email distribution with them on dedicated servers in a few of their data centers. I've been very happy with their support over the past 5 years.

I'm looking at their site, they seem to offer fully managed servers and sysadmin services, either on "cloud" (virtualized) or dedicated servers. (http://iweb.com/managed)
