Hi,
We are currently making our Intranet a 2.0 platform (Sharepoint 2013 + Newsgator). Is there anybody in the group whose company have implemented such tools? I'd be very interested in exchanges of experiences - informal.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Corinne

Hi Corrine,

We're currently looking into migrating our HTML-based Intranet into SharePoint 2013 and would be also interested in exchanging experiences. I know IATA is working on something similar. It could be very useful to organize a short meeting to info-share.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for your message! We are currently in assessment phase, so not much I can share, but absolutely, happy to share experiences a bit further down the road. Probably mid-Dec I'll have more input on our strategy and solution. In the meantime, I am hoping to get input from companies who already have implemented such a solution. I'll keep you posted!
Best regards
Corinne

Hi Corinne and Alex,

Are you "stuck" on Sharepoint or are you considering other, possibly open-source, solutions? There is a variety of possibilities out there which you may want to consider.

Let me know if any interest, would be a pleasure to discuss.

Best regards,

Alexander Teleki

Hi Corinne,
As you may know I'm just finishing the first phase of a social intranet project based on SharePoint 13 for a Forbes 50 company.
If you want to discuss customer's feedback, please let me know, we can arrange for a meeting at the end of November or early December.
Cheers
Claude

Hi Alex,

In our case (UNCTAD), we're going for SharePoint 2013 since our public-facing website is already SharePoint-based, so no other options there...

To contribute to the discussion, allow me to add Podio (www.podio.com) to the list, which we selected after a very thorough process. It was most suited to meet our needs for a platform that combines Intranet 2.0 with Intranet 1.0. And once I dug into it and discovered that it also allows to be used for project management, as a CRM, DAM etc, and that Podio provides free sponsorship packages,we were sold....

Hi,
Same for us. All web infrastructure is on Sharepoint, so no options there. In any case, I would be more interested with exchanges on business processes rather than platform. Would be great to organize something with Claude as he proposed. Will keep you posted.

Salut Claude,
Yes, it would be great to organize a meeting to discuss your experience. If OK with you, let me me know when you are available, and I would liaise with our other colleagues from the Geneva web group interested in this topic. All the best with the implementation in the meantime.

Hi Allan,

Funny you mention IBM Connections, I just got out of a demo by IBM! It is a great social enterprise product and does a good job of managing documents. Definitely worth considering.

Kind regards,

Alexander Teleki

Hi Alexander

A lot are happy on our end with it although it is not yet considered the official replacement. Some are still looking for other options, hence the interest in SharePoint. They'd like to look at solutions where we could easily integrate a WCM component into it and customize the appearance.

Best rgds.

Hi Allan,

If you are looking for WCM capabilities and customization, you may want to consider Liferay. It is an open-source portal that includes many collaborative features and is highly customizable.

Have you had a look? If not, you can check www.liferay.com or let me know if you would want further information or a demo.

Kind regards,

Alex

Hello,
This conversation makes me wonder if anyone else on this list is using Novell Vibe? We (at Oak Foundation) recently started using Novell Vibe. It is similar to Sharepoint with social features. We decided to use this tool because we use other Novell products. I am just curious if anyone else on this list uses this product? If so, it would be great to chat about how it's going.
Thanks!

Hello,
I’m back in Geneva with good news!
I am planning a conference in Geneva on January 30th about « SharePoint 2013 : a mature solution for a social intranet » with a testimonial from a project director at Total (the web page in French : http://www.voirin-consultants.com/2013/11/15/programme-seminaires-voirin-paris-geneve-numerique-strategie-transformation-sharepoint-2013-ville-numerique/).
I will check if we can do it at the FER (other ideas?).
Corinne, I will call you very soon.
To others, if you can not wait or attend on January 30th, feel free to contact me, we will find a date to meet and discuss my late experience on SP13.
Thank you
Cheers
Claude

Great news Claude, looking forward to it!

Won't be able to join, but here is another SharePoint 2013 - Intranet event happening in Geneva next week that might be of interest (even if provided by a vendor): http://www.mcnext.com/evenements/sharepoint/Pages/cafe-sharepoint-2013-decouvrez-sharepoint-2013-pour-vos-intranets-geneve-suisse.aspx
