This had a holistic strategy targeting the media (offering it as an embed), using the map image in side facebook and, of course, our own web properties. The results are pretty amazing. Not only we got them on The Guardian, NYT, FT, La Razón and other top media outlets, it also had 1000% engagement in FB compared to the previous launch.
As I said, baby steps, but we are trying to invest in that direction. Take a look at our facebook gallery to see the change: http://www.facebook.com/worldeconomicforum/photos_stream

I participated in a roundtable and held a workshop at GeOnG 2012 in Chambery last week and thought you might be interested in the presentations, which I have just uploaded:- Using Data for Communication (http://sm4good.com/2012/11/08/presentation-data-communication/)This is mainly about bringing communications and hard data together. The presentation includes loads of infographics as examples.- Using Social Media for Situational Awareness (http://sm4good.com/2012/11/09/presentation-social-media-situational-awareness/)This was the workshop. In the first part I wanted participants to play with Geofeedia to see how you can find rich media assets within geographical boundaries even if they have no text. The second part was about some tricks that can help you verify or falsify images you find on social media.Hope you find this useful,Best,Timo--
