Web statistics on your sites

what tools or Tech Statistics you use besides Google analytics, cloud and client based vs running on the server like Webalyzer for example.

I am trying to give up on Google Analytics whenever possible for privacy concerns, and recommend using Fathom Analytics (https://usefathom.com) or Matomo (https://matomo.org) in self hosted or cloud mode.

We use Piwik/Matomo for internal stats and a container to switch between Google Analytics / Yandex (for Russia and neighbors) and Weibo analytics (for China)

We used Web Trends and planning to use Matomo in Future.

At HDX we switched from Google Analytics to Mixpanel in 2016 in an effort to narrow our focus and get more people in the team using analytics tools to inform their work. Overall, I think we would consider it a success, though I think Google Analytics has made a lot of improvements since then.   --cj
