Hello,

I just wanted to say thanks for developing AleRax. It is a very useful tool. I am currently using it for one of my projects and have found it extremely valuable.

I am part of the Galaxy Europe team, and I was wondering if it would be okay to integrate AleRax into the Galaxy platform to make it more accessible to users.

I also noticed that there is no license file in the GitHub repo. In the paper, it mentions GNU GPL, so I just wanted to confirm that. If possible, it might be helpful to add the license to the repository as well.

I think integrating AleRax into Galaxy could help increase its visibility and make it easier for others to use.

Thanks again for your work, and I would be happy to hear your thoughts!

Best,

Deepti

Hello Deepti,

Integrating AleRax into Galaxy sounds like a great idea. I have recently made another tool available on Galaxy, although with much less parameters than AleRax. As far as I understand, we first need to make AleRax available on bioconda?
I will also take care of including a license file in the repository. We would appreciate your input on best practices when building the AleRax wrapper for Galaxy.

Best,
Noah

Hello Noah,

Thanks for your reply! Great to hear you are open to this!

Yes, making AleRax available via Bioconda would definitely be a good first step, as it simplifies installation and integration within Galaxy. I am currently working on a Galaxy workflow for phylogenetic analysis, where I’ve been using AleRax as a separate step after the main pipeline. If we integrate AleRax into Galaxy, I can include it directly in the workflow and make the whole process easier and complete within the platform.

I would be happy to start working on the wrapper for the Galaxy tool integration for AleRax. Once I have a first draft of the wrapper ready, we could review it together and refine it in line with best practices.

Thanks also for taking care of adding the license file; that will be very helpful.

Looking forward to collaborating on this!

Best,
Deepti
