Welcome to GenerAsian neXt E-NewsHello all, and welcome to our first edition of GenerAsian neXt E-News. I advise you to print out a copy of this article and keep it in mint condition as it may be worth a little something in a few years. It’ll also be a way for you to keep tabs on what’s neXt as GenerAsian neXt 2006 approaches. You may ask of course, those all sound great and all, but what do people my age think about the conference? Here is what some past participants said after last year’s conference. The conference opened my eyes regarding the challenges that face Asian Americans. Speakers such as Sonya Gong shared their personal stories that inspired me. Each person has his own conflicts in school, with family and friends, etc. By hearing some successful stories, I gained the strength to deal with my own. The conference was like a retreat for me, where I could relax and absorb the stories and environment. - Cynthia Chu
I’ve been to the conference for the last 5 years and each year I have learned something new that has inspired me to become a leader myself. I have lived in very different countries from America to New Zealand. In all these countries, I noticed that there is an ever-growing account of Asian youth. It is hard for Asian youth to grow up in a different culture and GenerAsian neXt resolves that problem by teaching them how to balance their lives and become leaders in the community. - Hans Li
Throughout my whole life, there have been a plethora of opportunities that have dramatically changed by life, but nothing compares to the invaluable lessons I learned from GenerAsian neXt. As a youth leader, this conference brought out the leadership in me. It taught me how to link the adults and the youth, two diverse ages, together in a great conference. Furthermore, it taught me how to organize such a powerful conference that not only affects Asian but the community as well. As a participant in the conference, I learned how to live in two diverse worlds, the Asian and the western and console them together so I can become a successful leader someday. As a senior this year, I will continue to be an avid participant and help continue bringing Asian together for this conference. But your support will ensure the future GenerAsian neXt. - Parth Shah
