GeneMANIA links are now available via Entrez Gene (http://
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/), the Saccharomyces Genome Database (SGD -
http://www.yeastgenome.org/) and the Bio-Array Resource for Plant
Functional Genomics (BAR - http://bar.utoronto.ca/). Entrez Gene
covers all six of the model organisms in GeneMANIA (fly, worm, budding
yeast, Arabidopsis, mouse and human), and SGD and BAR provide more
detailed information on budding yeast and Arabidopsis respectively.
You can now look up a gene of interest at these resources and follow a
link to GeneMANIA to quickly see whether that gene is linked to others
in over 700 networks. Once at GeneMANIA, you can add additional genes
of interest, or select specific types of networks to delve more deeply
into the possible function of the gene.

Where to find GeneMANIA links:

Entrez Gene: For all six of the model organisms in GeneMANIA (fly,
worm, budding yeast, Arabidopsis, mouse and human), the GeneMANIA link
can be found at the bottom of the Gene entry under both Tools and
Molecular Biology Databases. Try http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=gene&cmd=search&term=4361,
scroll to the bottom and follow the link to GeneMANIA to start
exploring the networks linked to MRE11A in humans.

SGD: You can find the GeneMANIA link in the Summary, Protein and
Interactions tabs of any locus in SGD. In the Summary tab, look for
GeneMANIA in the Interactions pulldown in the right hand column. At
the bottom of the Protein tab, you can find us under Interaction
Resources and in the Interactions tab itself, the link to GeneMANIA is
in the External Links section at the bottom. Go to
http://www.yeastgenome.org/cgi-bin/locus.fpl?locus=CDC27 and follow
any of these links to explore the interactions of CDC27 with other
genes in budding yeast.

BAR: Searching for any gene in the eFP browser at BAR will also give
you a link to GeneMANIA through the box with our name on it found
below the search box at the top right of the page. Following the link
http://bar.utoronto.ca/efp/cgi-bin/efpWeb.cgi?modeInput=Absolute&ncbi_gi=AT2G18790
will get you to BAR, and you can follow their GeneMANIA link (look for
the GeneMANIA icon near the top of the page) to find out more about
gene and protein interactions for PHYB.

We are working with other groups to provide more links to GeneMANIA.
If you know of a resource that should link to GeneMANIA, please let us
know at http://www.genemania.org/pages/feedback.jsf.

Thanks,
The GeneMANIA team
