Unfortunately, the British Newspaper Archive website does not have the Carlisle Patriot (or any other Carlisle newspaper) for January to May 1825.

Transcriptions will therefore continue from June 1825.

Please remember to post your reactions to the list if you found a relative mentioned, or just generally found anything interesting or hilarious, or if you can add additional information to any of the subjects mentioned.

It is very disheartening for any transcriber posting day in and day out when in response there is just resounding silence for weeks on end.

WE LOVE YOU DR. P.

There are a lot of very oldies like me, and lurkers, who just take you for granted.

You’re kind of like the 6pm news, always there for us.

You might consider switching to blogging, seems there’s money in that.

I’m too non-techy to figure it out.

Just remember we do appreciate you even if we seem ungrateful.

Petra,

I still enjoy your transcriptions, even if I seldom find any reference to any of my families. You are doing a smashing job.

Hi Petra
every word of your transcriptions are closely scrutinised by me.   I would be the first to yell and scream if you found one of my elusive ancestors.   A thought which always springs into my mind when I read the transcriptions is that almost every surname would have been represented at my junior school, I’m not sure that is the case today in this changing world.

Yes, we should all remember we are YOUNG at heart.

Genealogists never die; they just lose their census.

How very true! Fortunately I have not quite lost my census yet…
