EISTEDDFOD ACCOMPANIST AT
WHITEHAVEN MAYOR’S CONCERT.
 
It is interesting to note that Miss. Edith DERBYSHIRE, L. R. A. M., who will appear at a concert in the Gaiety, Whitehaven, next Sunday, on behalf of the Mayor’s Christmas Fund -  the aged poor, has just been appointed as the official accompanist at the Royal National Eisteddfod at Liverpool in 1929.

SIDDICK WOMEN’S HOUR.
 
Mrs. FOSS, Harrington, gave an enjoyable address at the monthly meeting. Miss. CRAGG, Workington, sang very pleasingly, “Nearer My God to Thee,” and “The Christmas Morn.” Mrs. HENDERSON was the accompanist, and Mrs. NELSON presided over a good attendance. Refreshments were served by the ladies committee.

At the Maryport Homing Society’s Show on Saturday, of likeliest old hens, 24 birds were entered and placed as under by Mr. T. VICKERS, Dearham: -

FOTHERGILL WOMEN’S HOUR.
 
At a meeting held in the Fothergill Mission there were 98 present. An excellent address was given by Mrs. L. HURST, Workington. Musical items were rendered by the Quartette Party.

Mrs. VARTY, soprano.
 
Mr. E. WILKINSON, bass.
 
Mr. A. DAVIDSON was organist. Refreshments were served by the committee.
