Tuesday 05 May 1778 (p. 3, col. 1)
An account has been received of the death of Mr. John EILBECK, merchant, of this town, (in London) on Monday se'ennight.
[According to the Parish Register, John EILBECK, aged 53, was buried on 01 May 1778 in the Body Vault at St. Mary, Islington, Middlesex.]
On Saturday se'ennight died at Newcastle, Mrs. SLACK, wife of Mr. SLACK printer in that place: she bore a tedious illness with true Christian patience, was perfectly resigned, and departed seemingly without pain. As a wife, a parent, and a friend, her conduct was most exemplary; and in these tender relations her death will be long and deeply regretted. To her literary abilities the public owe a tear of gratitude; her English Grammar is alone sufficient to perpetuate her memory, and with other ingenious publications (chiefly on the subject of Education) render every eulogium unnecessary.
[According to FamilySearch, Ann SLACK was buried on 29 Apr 1778 at St. John, Newcastle upon Tyne. According to submitted information on Find a Grave, she was baptised on 09 Dec 1719 at Lorton, Cumberland, as Ann, daughter of Henry FISHER, yeoman of Oldscale in the parish of Lorton; and she married Thomas SLACK on 15 Dec 1751 at Long Benton, Northumberland.]
On Tuesday last died suddenly at Calder Bridge, Mr. William RUTLIDGE, aged 53.
[According to the Copeland Registers Index, William RUTLEDGE of Calderbridge was buried on 30 Apr 1778 at St. John, Beckermet.]
