Last week, Mr. ABBOT, cork-cutter, to Miss GIBSON of Duke-street.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Samuel ABBOT and Mary GIBBONS (not GIBSON) married on 29 Sep 1777 at Holy Trinity, Whitehaven.]

 

DIED

 

A few days ago at Carlisle, Mr. Robert SCOTT, an eminent and respectable farmer there.

 

Lately at Castle Carrick in this county, the Rev. Mr. PEARSON, aged 85 years, 40 of which he had been vicar of that parish, and respected because he adorned the doctrine of God his Saviour in all things, and lived as the father and friend of his parishioners.

[According to his MI inside Castlecarrock Church, Rev. John PEARSON died 26 Sep 1777 aged 83. His wife Margaret died 05 Mar 1741 aged 44.]

 

A few days ago at Carlisle, Miss Betty SOWERBY, in the prime of life.

 

Yesterday se'ennight at Workington, in the prime of life, Miss KAY, daughter of Capt. John KAY: great numbers of people attended her interment on Wednesday, when a truly pathetic and edifying discourse was delivered by the Rev. Mr. ADDISON.

[According to FamilySearch, Jane KAY, daughter of John KAY, was buried 01 Oct 1777 at Workington.]

 

Saturday last in Hamilton's-lane, Mrs. Mary BARNES, widow.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, she was buried on 06 Oct 1777 at St. Nicholas, Whitehaven.]
