Thursday last, near Wigton, Mr. J. HUNTINGTON.

[According to the Parish Register Transcript, there was no burial of a Mr. LAWSON around this time. However, Martha, daughter of Wilfrid & Margaret LAWSON, Taylor, Wigton, aged 16, was buried on 11 Apr 1778 at Wigton.]
A few days ago, at Resewen near Wigton, Mr. WALTON of Aldston Moor.

Last week at Ormskirk, William HILL, Esq. a gentleman well known for his excellent invention of the medicine for the bite of a mad dog.

A few days ago at Lancaster, greatly and deservedly lamented, Miss GIBSON of that place; a lady of large fortune, and possessed of such a disposition as allowed her to exercise such works of benevolence as rendered her a blessing to the indigent.

Suddenly at New Town in Abbey Holme, Mr. Daniel WAITE, many years a schoolmaster at that place; he was always treated by his acquaintance (and his death observed) with that respect which is due to so important a character; a character too frequently disregarded, though on the education of youth depends every thing valuable to society.

Friday last, at Nook near Bootle, in the 40th year of his age, greatly respected, by all who knew him, Mr. William ASKEW; he taught Psalmody in the counties of Cumberland, Westmorland, and Lancashire near twenty years; and was esteemed, by the best judges, one of the greatest vocal musicians in the North of England.

Last week, at Shap in Westmorland, Mr. Anthony THOMPSON, inn-keeper.
