Lately died at Wigton, in an advanced age, much lamented, Mr. John HARRISON, many years steward to the Duke of Somerset, a person who had acquired by study and application, a perfect knowledge of the laws of this country, and, for several years past, took great pains to settle controversies and disputes in that neighbourhood, generally to the satisfaction of the parties concerned, he was esteemed one of the most eminent conveyancers in the North of England, and bore the character of an honest disinterested man.

[According to the Parish Register Transcript, John HARRISON, Wigton, aged 83, was buried on 02 Sep 1778 at Wigton.]

 

DIED

 

Saturday last, in the 45th year of his age, greatly regretted, John BUCK, master of the King's Arms, one of the principal inns of this town.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, John BUCK of Lowther Street was buried on 05 Oct 1778 at St. Nicholas, Whitehaven.]

 

Lately at Oulton near Wigton Mr. ROBINSON, aged 86, greatly respected and lamented.
