MARRIED

 

Yesterday morning at Bootle, Mr. William GARDINER of Dunnerdale, to Miss Hannah NICHOLSON of Bootle.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, William GARDENER of Broughton, husbandman, and Hannah NICHOLSON of Bootle married on 03 Oct 1779 at Bootle.]

 

DIED

 

The 12th inst. in James-street, Bedford Row, London, Richard BAYNES, Esq. (formerly of Cockermouth) solicitor of Gray's Inn; a gentleman very eminent in his profession, and of a fair character, which made him respected through life, and his death much lamented.

 

Tuesday last, in the 22d year of his age, Mr. John STANLEY of Broughton, after a lingering illness, which he bore with Christian fortitude.

[According to Lancashire OPC, John STANLEY, age 23, was buried on 16 Sep 1779 at St. Mary Magdalene, Broughton in Furness.]

 

Wednesday last at Dunnerdale, Mrs. Ann STABLE.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Ann STABLE, wife of William, of Dunnerdale, was buried on 15 Sep 1779 at Ulpha.]

 

Last week, at Sedgfield, as he was singing a hunting song, Mr. Tho. DOWNING, (generally known in that neighbourhood by the name of Thomas LAKE) he has lived at that place and the neighbouring villages for several years past, and respected for a good natured inoffensive man.

 

Last week on the Green Area, Lancaster, greatly respected, Mrs. Mary NICHOLSON, aged 79.

[According to the Quaker Register, Mary NICHOLSON, widow, of Lancaster, aged 78, died on 17 Sep 1779 and was buried on 19 Sep 1779 in Friends Burying-Ground at Lancaster.]

 

At Dublin, Mr. Henry TINDALL, of this town.
