DIED.
On Wednesday, the 12th instant, at Dumfries, aged 104, MRS. JANE
MACKNIGHT, relict of the last of the male line of the lairds of
Kilwhanity.
On Monday, the 17th instant, in York, aged 69, LUMLEY KETTLEWELL,
well known as a most eccentric character. Although possessed of sufficient
property to render life comfortable, in his person and habits he exhibited an
appearance of extreme wretchedness. It is supposed a disappointment in his
affections was the cause of his relinquishing society, and secluding himself in
a hovel, entirely unfit for the residence of a human being, along with the
animals which he kept.
On the 16th ult. in the 43d year of his age, ANTHONY LITTLEDALE,
Esq., of Whitehaven.
On the 5th inst., at Cassel, HERMAN SILLEM, Esq., of Mark-lane, to
WILHELMINE, fourth daughter of PROFESSOR WAITZ, Physician to HIS HIGHNESS THE
ELECTOR OF HESSE-CASSEL.
We understand that the announcement of the death of MR. CORBETT,
inserted in our last paper, had not any foundation in truth: - it was nothing
more than a sort of retaliation for a ridiculous hoax which had been attempted
to be practised by MR. C. or his companion on some of their friends in this
town, at whose request we unwittingly published the incorrect
statement.
