A few days ago, at Aldstone in this county, by the Rev. Mr. LANCASTER, Thomas GRAHAM, of Carlisle, Esq.; to Miss WHITFIELD of Clargill, an accomplished lady, with a fortune of 70,000 l.

Last week, at Kirklinton, Capt. CLARKE, to Miss Molly DACRE, daughter of Joseph DACRE, Esq.; of that place.
[This was copied from the Newcastle Courant of 27 Dec 1777; however, there is no such marriage in the transcription of the Kirklinton Bishop's Transcripts, or on FamilySearch, or on ScotlandsPeople. The marriage must however have happened. The groom was John CLERK, a Royal Navy officer, from 1786 Sir John CLERK, 5th Bart. of Penicuik. Various sources name his wife as Rosemary DACRE or DACRE-APPLEBY, born 1745, died c.1832. Sir John CLERK died in 1798; they had no issue.]

[According to the Parish Register Transcript, Thomas DAVIS, Wigton, aged 82, was buried on 20 Dec 1777 at Wigton.]
