MARRIAGES.

 

At St. Mary's Church, in this city, Mr. John BOWMAN, to Miss Jane LITTLE; both of the Chapelry of Wreay. Mr. Thos. STODDART, to Miss Mary ROBERT. Mr. Joseph LAUDER, to Miss Mary GRAHAM.

 

At Brampton, on Sunday last, Mr. Wm. TOPPING, hair-dresser, to Mrs. Eliz. ATKINSON, White Hart Inn.

 

At Blawith, near Whitehaven, Mr. John DALZELL, jun. of Stockhow Hall, to Mary, only daughter of the late Mr. Joseph STEELE, of Ashley Grove, near Egremont. [According to the Bishop's Transcripts, John DALZELL of Stockhow Hall in the Parish of Lamplugh in the County of Cumberland, Widower, and Mary STEEL of Blawith, Parish of Ulverston, Spinster, married on 30 Nov 1825 at the Chapelry of Blawith in the Parish of Ulverston, with Consent of Guardians.]

 

On Sunday last, by the Rev. Richmond FELL, M. A. vicar of Warcop, near Brough, Westmorland, Mr. John RUMNEY, surgeon, of Brough, to Miss BREEKS, of the former place.

 

On the 1st inst. at Caton, near Lancaster, by the Rev. J. TURNER, John FELL, Esq. of Ulverstone, banker, to Isabella, daughter of Samuel GREGSON, Esq. Mayor of Lancaster.

 

At Torbanehill, on the 29th ult. the Rev. James MONILAWS, of Annan, to Isabella Luke, eldest daughter of the late John SMELLIE, Esq. of Torbanehill.

 

At Dumfries, on the 29th ult. Mr. D. M'MEEKAN, Courier Office, to Mary, second daughter of Mr. Thos. GLENDINNING, late merchant in Dumfries. On Monday last, Archibald TODD, 26th Cameronians, to Helen, second daughter of John NAPIER, Acting Coast Waiter.

 

At the house of the British Minister at Naples, Sir Thos. CARNEGIE, of Southesk, Bart. to Charlotte, second daughter of the Rev. Dan. LYSONS, of Hempsted Court, Gloucestershire.

 

DEATHS.

 

Suddenly, in this City, on Friday evening, Mr. CHRISTOPHERSON, sen., aged 66: many years a well-known and very respectable auctioneer in Carlisle.

 

On Friday the 2d inst. aged 79, Sarah, wife of Mr. Joseph TOPPIN, lay canon of St. Mary's Cathedral.

 

On Monday last, at her son's house, in Lowther-street, Carlisle, after a lingering illness, which she bore with great patience, Elizabeth HUTTON, aged 77 years, much respected.

 

In quarters at Carlisle Castle, on the 6th instant, Lt. James RALSTON, 55th regiment, aged 41. His death was occasioned by an affection of the brain with which he had been long afflicted.

 

This week: Mr. Fras. MOORE, Caldewgate, aged 68. On Sunday last, Mr. Robert ROBINSON, aged 60.

 

On Wednesday night, in Caldewgate, Mr. Robert HOLIDAY, weaver, aged 40. His wife found him dead in bed beside her when she awoke in the morning.

 

At Penrith, on the 5th inst. Elizabeth, wife of Mr. Thos. NICKELS, aged 63.

 

Suddenly, on Tuesday last, at Maryport, the wife of Mr. Andrew LITTLE, inn-keeper, King-street.

 

On Sunday, at Workington, Eleanor, relict of the late Mr. John HODGSON, merchant, of that place. Lately, Ann, wife of Mr. Thomas WILSON, carpenter, aged 52. Mr. Thomas LAMB, advanced in years. Mr. Anthony DAGLISH, aged 84. Ann, wife of Mr. John SANDERSON, aged 49.

 

Last week, the Rev. Joseph SHAW, head master of the Free Grammar School, in Stafford, aged 71. He retired to rest, somewhat indisposed, on Monday evening, and was found a corpse on the following morning. The Rev. J. SHAW was father of the Corporation of the Borough of Stafford, and had been a resident in the town for forty-five years, having been appointed head master of King Edward's Grammar School in the year 1780. He was a native of Bootle, in Cumberland, and received the rudiments of his education at the Free School in that parish. In early life, he was distinguished for that devotion to classical literature which characterised him through life, and by which he attained such eminence as a teacher.

 

In London, Mr. Jonathan FEARON, mate of the brig Hollow Oak, of Whitehaven.
