Westnewton Wedding.

LIGHTFOOT - BARNES.

A pretty wedding took place at St. Matthew's Church, Westnewton, on Saturday, the parties being Mr. W. LIGHTFOOT, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. LIGHTFOOT, Chapel Farm, Gilcrux, and Miss A.M. BARNES, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. WATSON, Crossrigg Farm, Westnewton.  Mr. J. LIGHTFOOT, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and the Vicar,  Rev. B. P. HAINES, officiated.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an ankle-length dress of nil blue silk, with wreath and veil, richly embroidered, reaching to the ground, and held in position by a wreath of orange blossom.  She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and maiden-hair fern.
The bridesmaids were Miss A. LIGHTFOOT, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss M.E. STEELE, cousin of the bride, who wore saxe-blue flowered silk, net caps trimmed with silver leaves, and carried ivory-backed prayer books, the gifts of the bridegroom.
Later in the day the happy couple left by train for Liverpool, where the honeymoon is being spent.  The bride travelled in a saxe-blue silk dress with brown hat and coat, the coat being the gift of the bridegroom.  The bride's gift to the groom was a walnut trousers press.
The reception was held at the home of the bride, and the presents were numerous.
On their return they will take up their new home at Stanger Farm, Cockermouth.
