A few days ago at Beetham, by the Rev. Mr. HUTTON, Mr. Richard CRAMPTON, paper-maker in Millthrop, to Miss Bridget PENNINGTON of Castle Mills, near Kendal.

[According to FamilySearch, they married on 31 Jan 1778 at Beetham.]

 

Tuesday last at Cockermouth, Mr. Charles STUDHOLM, to Miss Barbara SCURR.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, the groom was Charles STUDHAM; they married on 10 Feb 1778.]

 

At Abbey-in-Holme, by the Rev. Dr. KAY, Mr. Wm. HOLIDAY, of Maryport, to Miss TAYLOR of High Town.

[According to a Bishop's Transcripts transcription, William HOLLIDAY of the Parish of Crosscannonby bachelor aged 28 and Agnes TAYLOR of this Parish singlewoman aged 25 married on 05 Feb 1778 at Holme Cultram.]

 

Yesterday, at St. James's Church in this town, Mr. John FISHER of this place, to Miss Ruth IREDALE of Whitrigg, in the parish of Torpenhow.

A few days ago, at Nether End near this town, Mr. John PONSONBY, one of the people called Quakers.

In James's-street, Whitehaven, Mrs. FISHER, wife of Mr. William FISHER.

At Penrith, greatly regretted, Mr. Samuel BIRD of Hay-Close, in the 22d year of his age.

The 10th ult. at Upsal in Sweden, aged 71, LINNÆUS, the celebrated botanist.

Yesterday at Drigg, near Ravenglass, William SINGLETON, Esq. he was formerly in business in London, but retired to his native place some years ago, and is supposed to have died worth 15,000 l.

Saturday last, at Ramsey in the Isle of Mann, Mr. Robert BLAKENEY, brother to Capt. BLAKENEY of Distington, near this town.

 

Wednesday last at Broughton, Mrs. HANCOCK, wife of Mr. HANCOCK of Myerside near that place.

[According to FamilySearch, Elizabeth, spouse of James HANCOCK or HANDCOCK, was buried on 15 Feb 1778 at Broughton in Furness. According to Lancashire OPC, she was of Mireside.]

 

Last week, at Kirkby in Lancashire, Mr. George WOODBURN, father of Capt. WOODBURN of this town.

[According to Lancashire OPC, George WOODBURN of Sandside was buried on 19 Feb 1778 at St. Cuthbert, Kirkby Ireleth.]
