SIGHTS OF THE WEEK.
[continued]
THE WRESTLING,

The second prize of Four Guineas, with two guineas to the second man, and minor prizes up to the eighth, was wrestled for on Thursday, and produced some good play, but the spectators, on account of a more attractive object, were not so numerous as on Wednesday. John NICHOLSON, of Baron Mills, near Haltwhistle, was the conqueror, throwing, at last, the somewhat celebrated Jonathan WATSON.—The announced wrestling by Boys did not take place.
The ring was under the entire management of Mr. Henry PEARSON, and the most complete order prevailed. The sport, however, was not so good, on the whole, as is in general witnessed at Carlisle—at least, so say the cognoscenti. It is calculated that from twelve to fifteen thousand persons were lookers-on on the first day.
