Hats off to my Reveley ancestors that emigrated to America in 1765 from Cumberland.

 

Lieutenant Francis Reveley, son of my 5^th great grandfather Thomas, served in the American Revolution in the 3^rd Maryland Regiment Light Infantry.  Family stories passed down on both sides of the Atlantic say he was an aide to a famous general and helped organize the Cincinnati Society after the War.

 

John Reveley, my 4^th great grandfather and Francis’ brother, built the Westham Forge in Virginia, and manufactured cannon and munitions for the Revolution before the Forge was destroyed by Benedict Arnold.
