Hats off to my Reveley ancestors that emigrated to America in 1765 from Cumberland.

Lieutenant Francis Reveley, son of my 5th great grandfather Thomas, served in the American Revolution in the 3rd Maryland Regiment Light Infantry.  Family stories passed down on both sides of the Atlantic say he was an aide to a famous general and helped organize the Cincinnati Society after the War.

John Reveley, my 4th great grandfather and Francis’ brother, built the Westham Forge in Virginia, and manufactured cannon and munitions for the Revolution before the Forge was destroyed by Benedict Arnold.
