At the Friends' meeting-house, Blackburn, Mr. Benjamin BARTON, chemist and druggist, to Miss Mary DILWORTH, daughter of the late Mr. DILWORTH, of Ray, near Lancaster. This is the first marriage ceremony ever celebrated in that town by the Society of Friends.
In the Isle of Man:—At Kirk Braddan, the Rev. Robert GRIER, to Miss Harriet BRISTOW; Mr. Maurice ADAMS, painter and glazier, to Miss Mary Anne REDFERN—all of Douglas. At Kirk Maughold, Mr. Joseph SKILLICORN, baker, Douglas, to Miss Anne CLAUGE.
DEATHS.
In Fisher-street, Carlisle, on Monday morning, Mr. Joseph HALL, innkeeper, aged 38. His remains were interred at Wetheral on Wednesday, with masonic honours; the procession consisting of the Carlisle Branch of the Dumfries Operative Lodge, dressed in black, and decorated with insignia of the craft, preceded by solemn music, flags, &c.
On Saturday last, in Caldewgate, aged 36, Mr. Hugh JAMES, formerly a currier in this city. A few years ago he nearly lost the use of his limbs by a paralytick [sic] stroke, from which he never recovered.
At the house of Mr. RANKIN, innkeeper, Saint Cuthbert's Lane, Mrs. Ann COWEN, formerly landlady of the Queen's Head public-house, Caldewgate, aged 83.
At Blackwell, near this city, on Monday last, Mrs. MILBURN, a very wealthy lady, aged upwards of 90 years.
This week, Mrs. Jane DIXON, of Penrith Town-head.
On Thursday last, at Longpark, in the parish of Scaleby, after a long illness, Jane, relict of the late Mr. Thos. JAMES, of that place, aged 63, much respected.
At Burnfoot, in Bewcastle, on Sunday last, in the prime of life, Mr. Robert DOUGLAS, horse-dealer.
At New Church, near Penrith, on the 20th instant, of apoplexy, the Rev. Alfred GRUNDY, aged 26; he was ordained deacon about six weeks ago, by the Bishop of this diocese, and is much lamented by his parishioners.
At Hackthorp, near Penrith, after a short illness, Mr. Benj. PROCTOR, builder, aged 44; highly respected.
At Wigton, on the 12th inst. Mrs. BLACKBURN, aged 26, wife of Mr. BLACKBURN, of the Cross Keys.
On the 15th, at Maryport, Mrs. HETHERINGTON, 35.
At Whitehaven:—Mr. John WAUGH, plasterer, aged 90; at Mount-pleasant, aged 17, Mr. John BURKE; Friday night, suddenly, in Howgill-street, Mrs. Isabella ROBINSON, widow, aged 80.
At Workington, on the 13th inst. Sarah, the wife of Mr. Thos. SCOTT, draper, aged 24, and daughter of Mr. Edward BOWNESS. On the 14th, Mr. Thos. SIMPSON, aged 35, ostler at the Green Dragon Inn. Mrs. Eliza. BAILEY, aged 82.
At Great Braithwaite, near Keswick, on Saturday last, Miss Ann WALKER, daughter of Mr. Jos. WALKER, 21.
On the 17th Sept. at Cambridge, after an illness of eight months, aged 48, Mr. Thomas WARWICK, late of Carlisle.
On the 4th inst. Mr. HORTONS, Great Hampton Street, Birmingham, needle-maker, of Redditch, after a long and severe illness.
At Dumfries, on Friday last, Mr. Walter BURNIE, teacher.—At Cardoness, on the 13th inst. Sir David MAXWELL, Bart. of Cardoness, at the venerable age of 88 years.—At East Carden Manse, the 2nd Sept. Janet, wife of the Rev. John PRIMROSE.
In Limerick, on Tuesday, after a short illness, Thos. O'GRADY, Esq. Surveyor-General of Excise, brother to the Right Hon. Standish O'GRADY.
Lately, at Winchester, Mr. George HARDING, aged 116 years. He survived five wives, two of whom he married after he was one hundred years of age.
On the 6th inst. at Powerscourt, Ireland, the Hon. and Rev. Mr. WINGFIELD. He was one of the seven Protestant clergymen who lately challenged the Carlow priests to meet them in public disputation. His death was occasioned by eating too freely of fruit.
