MARRIED

Last week, at Workington, Capt. Joseph WESTRAY to Miss Jane ROBINSON.

[According to the Parish Register Transcript, they married on 05 Apr 1778. According to the Marriage License Bond, he was a Marriner, aged 30, and she a Spinster, aged 22, both of Workington.]

DIED

Yesterday se'ennight, at Heaton in Northumberland, Matthew RIDLEY, senior alderman, and lately one of the Members for Newcastle: he was four times Mayor of that corporation.

[According to FamilySearch, he was aged 67, and was buried on 13 Apr 1778 at St. Nicholas, Newcastle upon Tyne.]

Yesterday se'ennight, at Newtown near Ravenglass, Mr. Thomas BENN, a gentleman greatly respected by his acquaintances.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, Thomas BENN of Newtown was buried on 08 Apr 1778 at Muncaster.]
