Mr. DANE, keeper of his Majesty's gaol at Lancaster.

[According to Lancashire Online Parish Clerk, John DANE, Goaler of Lancr., was buried on 17 Oct 1779 at St. Mary, Lancaster. Cause of Death: Suicide Insane.]

 

In the Island of Antigua, the 4th of August, universally lamented, William SALMOND, Esq. formerly of Carlisle.

 

Friday last, in George-street, aged 54, Mrs. WILSON, Widow.

[According to the Copeland Register Index, Bridget WILSON of George Street was buried on 24 Oct 1779 at St. Nicholas, Whitehaven.]

 

Lately at New-York, Capt. John SMITH, of the Chambers, of this port.

 

Tuesday last, in Marlborough-street, in an advanced age, Mr. Robert JEFFERSON, many years a captain of a ship in the Virginia trade, and much respected as an honest man.

[According to the Copeland Registers Index, he was a weaver, aged 75, and buried on 21 Oct 1779 at Holy Trinity, Whitehaven.]
