NEWS.

MELANCHOLY ACCIDENT. - Early on Monday Morning, as CAPT. WILLIAM CARSON, og the brig "Two Brothers", of Whitehaven, belonging to MESSRS. BARKER, was stepping from a sloop to the North Wall, it is supposed that his foot slipped, as he was found drowned a few hours afterwards.

THE KING. - The bodily indisposition with which the king was afflicted about two months since, arose from a violent cold which his majesty then caught, supposed to be occasioned by the severe north and north-east winds, which then blew remarkably strong.  To guard against its recurrence, an additional stove has been put up in one of his rooms, and other means taken to render the whole suite of apartments, which are much exposed to the north winds, warmer.  The apartments appropriated to the occupation of the king, and his immediate and personal attendants, are on the north side of Windsor Castle, which, from its height, is unavoidably much exposed to the weather.  These apartments overlook the Terrace, to which there is a communication.
The King has occasionally walked there, properly accompanied, although this has been but very seldomm, and the part is so secluded, that he could not be observed by any person.  No one, indeed, is allowed to walk on the Terrace, to prevent which, centinels are stationed at the ends.
