WESTMORLAND COUNTY SESSIONS.

At the County Sessions, yesterday, before the REV. WM. BARTON, Chairman, and several other Magistrates, an appeal was heard in which JOHN BELL was appellant, against an order for diverting a foot-way in the grounds of MR. FRANCIS PEARSON, of Kirkby-Lonsdale. Several respectable witnesses in support of the order proved, that the new road was as convenient as the old one;  but they admitted that it was rather further about.

On the part of the appellant, one of the magistrates, who made the order, was examined as to the performance of an agreement to make a passage under some buildings belonging to MR. PEARSON (being part of the diverted line), five feet in width, and he stated the agreement was not complied with.  Other witnesses, also, proved this, and that occastional obstructions were met with in that part.  The Bench confirmed the order.
__________

Two other appeals from the same quarter were also entered, but terms were proposed to compromise them, and they were not heard.  By this compromise, we understand, both sides are satisfied.
__________

An appeal was brought before the Court in which John  D* X* N endeavoured to establish the incorrectness of the Poors' Rate for Kentmere.  Owing to the irregularity of the notice (which ought to have been given to the last session), the appeal could not be heard.  The application for costs was refused.
__________

An appeal, touching a settlement case between Lancaster and Kirkland, was decided in favour of the removants; and costs were granted to Kirkland, the removing township.
___________

A bill was presented against a person in Milnthorp, for keeping a gaming-house, but it was not found a true bill.
___________

Another bill, for a conspiracy, was attempted to be brought before the Court by the notorious JOHN PETTY, but, being out of its jurisdiction, it was not received.
____________

An appeal as to a settlement, Appleby and Kendal, could not be heard, on account of the Bench being interested in those towns.
_____________

Nothing else of interest occurred.
