John Kubista , a Pioneer and respected citizen of this county ,
passedaway Tuesday evening at his farm west of town after several
weeksillness.He was born in Bohemia on May 5, 1840, and was 76 years ,
6Months , and 17 days old.Funeral services will be held at
theCongregational church in Pierce tommorow (friday)Rev. J.B.
Burkhardtconducting the same. Interment will be in Prospect View
Cemetery.

John Kubista, whose death was chronicled in these columns last week,
wasborn in the village of Dlouha-Stebora , in the county of
Chrudim,Bohemia,May 5, 1840, and was age 76 years , 6 Months , and 17
days.He came tothe United States in 1867 , locating in the state of
Illinois, where heresided several years.From Illinois he went to
Pittsburg,Penn. , where helived a short time and then came out west and
located in Dodge county.32years ago he moved to Pierce County and lived
here continuosly until hisdeath , which occured at his farm home 8
miles west of pierce on the 21stday of Nov. at 8:30 P.M. His death was
due to Bright's Disease.He wasconfined to the house 16 days prior to
his death.He was united inmarriage to Miss Mary Synovec May 20,1885.To
this union was born 2 sons,William and John who survive.Mr. Kubista was
a good citizen, sturdy andhonest and honorable in all his dealings with
his fellow men.
Funeral services were held at the Congregational church last
fridayafternoon, Rev. J.B. Burkhardt having charge of the
same.Appropriatemusic was rendered by the choir. The remains were
interred in theProspect View Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Kubista one of the old settlers of pierce county,died at
herhome on R.F.D. No. 2,Monday afternoon at 3:00 of cancer of the
breast andthroat from which shehad suffered for several years past.She
had been atSavannah, Missouri at different times for treatment, which
only affordedtemporary relief.
Mrs Kubista was born at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, July 12,1868, and at
thetime of her death was aged 59 years , 2 months and 18 days.
Her girlhood life was spent in Saline County , Nebraska.In 1883 she
movedto pierce County with her parents.
In 1884 she was united in marriage to John Kubista . She had been
aresident of pierce county for 45 years at the time of her death-living
ona farm west of Pierce.Her Husband died nearly 11 years ago.
She is survived by 2 sons ,William and John A.,6
Brothers:Frank,Rudolph,Richard,Ed,Phillip, and Fred,and 2 sisters Mrs.
Anton Turek andMrs.Sirek.
Funeral services were held Wenesday afternoon at the home at 1:30 pm
andat the Congregational Church at 2:30 pm conducted by the pastor Rev.
C.Vincent.
Alarge Concourse of people were present to pay their last token
ofrespect to the departed.
Many beautiful floral offerings were in evidence-_____of relatives
andfriends.
After the services the remains were taken to prospect view cemetery
forburial.The pallbearers were messrs. Albert and Joe Silhacek,John
Kubista,Anton Kratochvil,John Havel,and Emil Hinesh.

Mr. Kubista passed away jan. 20 in Omaha Veteran's Hospital where he
hadbeen a patient for several months.
John Kubista , son of John Kubista and Mary Synovec was born
November23,1894 at pierce. As a child he attended school in district
47.
Upon his return from the service he farmed 8 miles west of pierce
untilabout 1940 when he moved to Plainview where he worked in a
fillingstation. He later moved to Brunswick where he lived until his
death.
He is survived by one brother William, Hoskins. Preceding him in
deathwere his parents.

DEATH OF FRANK KUBISTA

Frank Kubista, one of the old and respected settlers of Pierce
County,died at the home of his son, John, living south of Pierce, last
Friday,of dropsy.

He was born in Bohemia, December 6, 1843, and died at Pierce, Nebr.,
onMarch 19, 1920, aged 76 years, 3 months and 13 days. He grew to
youngmanhood in his native country and was married to Miss Anna Herman
in1866. In 1881 he came to the United States, first living in Dodge
county,Nebraska. In 1886 he came to Pierce county and settled on a
farm. To thisunion were born 5 children-1 son and 4 daughters. Those
surviving areJohn, Mrs. Frank Dutcher, Mrs. Telomena Synovec, Mrs.
Frank Frank andMiss Mary Kubista.

Funeral services were held at the home of the son, John, south of
townSunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Lawrence Horning, pastor of
theCongregational church in Pierce. The Pierce male quartet, consisting
ofMessrs. A.L. Brande, L.P. Tonner, C.B. Brande and D.C. Deibler,
sang"Rock of Ages" and "Nearer to Thee."

A large company of old friends and neighbors were present to pay
theirlast tribute of respect to the deceased.

Burial was had in Prospect View cemetery.

Mrs. Frank Kubista Passes Away.

Mrs. Frank Kubista passed away on Monday, the 6th inst, at her home
westof town, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 25 days.

Deceased was born in Bohemia on May 11, 1839. Her maiden name was
AnnaHarman. She was united in marriage to Frank Kubista in her native
countryon January 16th, 1866. After residing in Bohemia for 15 years
they cameto America in 1881, located first in Dodge county. Three years
later theymoved to Pierce county where deceased lived until the final
summons came.

There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kubista four boys and four girls,
threeboys passing away in their infancy. Besides the husband, five
childrensurvive their mother's death, viz: Mrs. Edward Synovec, Pierce,
Mrs. O.I.Dutcher, Greeley, Nebr., Mrs. Frank Frank, of Verdigre, and
John and Maryof this county.

Mrs. and Mrs. Kubista celebrated their golden wedding anniversary
onJanuary 16, 1916 with all the children present.

Funeral services were held at the Congregational church
Wednesdayafternoon, at 2 o'clock, the pastor, Rev. J. B. Burkhardt,
conducting thesame. Appropriate music was rendered by the church choir.
The serviceswere attended by a large gathering of relatives and old
friends. Burialwas made in Prospect View cemetery.

maidenname as Herman

Funeral services for John Kubista , A long-time resident and
well-knownretired farmer, were held Friday afternoon at the
Congregational churchwith the Rev. M.N. Knudson officiating.Hyms were
sung by Miss. BernysHavel with Mrs. L.D. Martelle as organist .
Burial was in Prospect View Cemetery with the following serving
aspallbearers : Fred Wieting , Owen Hunter , Ernest Melcher , Jake
Weber ,Herbert Feddern and John Wiley.
John Kubista was Born Dec. 9 , 1879 in Czechoslovakia and immigrated
withhis parents, Mr and Mrs. Frank Kubista when he was a child of two
years.the family setteled at Dodge , where they resided for two years
and thenmoved to pierce and while living there enduring all the
hardships andprivations of the early day pioneers.Later the family
moved to the Osmondcommunity where they resided for several years.
He attended the rural schools in Pierce Countty and then continued
tomake his home with his parents , assiting his father with the
farming.After the death of his parents , he farmed the old Turek farm
inCleveland Precinct and later on the farm west of town now owned by
LeoSynovec . Here he resided until 1949 when failing health forced him
toretire and with his sister, who had kept house for him for many years
,moved to a comfortable home on east Main street.
He was a good neighbor , always willing to help in time of need and
hewas highly respected and the friend of many.
He suffered a stroke on January 23 and he was taken to a norfolk
hospitalwere he passed away on January 30 at the age of 81 years For
many yearshe was a member of the ZCBJ lodge , Cezky Prapor, No. 199 at
Pierce . Heleaves to Mourn his loss, two sisters , Miss Mary Kubista
who made herhome with him and Mrs. Frances Frank of Creighton ,
thirteen nieces andseven nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters , Mrs Ed
Synovecof Pierce and Mrs. Dutcher of Greeley.

ofpierce, later moving to the Osmond Community,where they lived for
severalyears.
Miss Kubista lived with her parents until she started keeping house
forher brother and herself on a farm southwest of Pierce and in 1949
theyhad a farm sale and moved to the east part of Pierce.She lived here
until1959 when she sold her house and moved to the home of Mrs. Taylor.
She is survived by several Nieces and nephews.Her parents , a
brother,john and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Dutcher , Mrs. Ed Synovec,
and MrsFrances Frank , preceded her in death

Filomena(Kubista) Synovec
Last Rites for Mrs. Ed Synovec
Funeral services for Mrs. Ed Synovec , 80 , were held tuesday
afternoonat the Congregational Church with Rev. M. N. Knudson
officiating. Heused as his text job 5-26: " Thou shall come to thy
grave in a full agelike as a shock of corn cometh in his season."
Mrs. Synovec was a kind and loving mother and will be missed a great
dealby her children . She lived along in a home near her daughter ,
Mrs.Henry Kreger , who spent a great deal of time with her mother.
Miss Bernys Havel and Mrs Harry Retzlaff sang " Sweet Bye and Bye"
and"God Will Take Care of Thee", accompanied by Mrs. L.D. Martelle at
theorgan.
Interment was in Prospect View Cemetery with Wm. Meyer, Mike Havel,
ArtFix , Herman Ahlman , Emil Altwine and Wm. Koeppe as Pallbearers.
Filomena Kubista was born Aug 10, 1869 in Czechoslovakia and passed
awayat her home early Sunday Morning at the age of 80 yrs , 5 months ,
19days.She Came to America when 12 years old , with her parents.On
Aug24,1890 she was married to Ed Synovec and nine children were born to
thisunion.
She is survived by three sons: Frank, Meadow Grove , John ,Pierce
andEdward of Neligh; three daughters, Mrs. Henry Kreger of Pierce,
MrsCurtis Deboard of Foster and Mrs. Henry Carstens of Pierce.
Her husband and three sons preceded her in death.Her Son , Rudolph
diedOct 8, 1949,in an automobile accident near Foster.Surviving also
are 24grandchildren and Nine Great-grandchildren,One brother and two
sisters.
