Dear All

I am at the philosophy department at Stanford now, with the purpose of talking over my Ph.D. dissertation with co-supervisor Helen Longino. I am enjoying my time here very much and I would like to take full advantage of being able to talk to her. Therefore, I decided to stay here until the end of December and so won't go to the Gendered Ways of Knowing conference in Trento. I wrote to the conference organizers now and declined my presentation.

I found the conference programme very interesting though and it would have been a great opportunity to catch up with network activites as well, so I truly regret that I miss it. But, considering the time, effort and money I put in organizing my visit at Stanford, I feel it would be silly to leave before the end of the quarter.

Still, I very much would like to participate in the symposium in Uppsala and I will make sure I am free at that time. I would be happy to help with the organizational work as well - please let me know if and how I can contribute.

Kind regards,
Agnes

Dear all,

for those of you who will come to Trento: I know managed to come one day
earlier and so I will arrive on tuesday at about 4 pm.

If anyone needs a bed from tuesday to wednesday: In my room at the
Albermonaco there is still one bed free.

Best, Martina

Dear Àgnes,

great to hear from you and to know that you found such good grounds
for developing your project!

Do you know that Staffan is in Stanford as well and also until the end
of the year (and therefore not coming to Trento)? He is staying at the
Clayman Institute.

Be well and enjoy your time in the Far West, best, Elvira

Dear all,

like Dagmar, Helena and Martina I will arrive on Tuesday, Nov. 30, in
the afternoon. I made a reservation for the Albermonaco.

Helene, Cathrine, are you coming to Trento for this conference?

Dagmar, I am not sure about renting a meeting room. A cafe could be
noisy, on the other side we are a small group. Perhaps the hotel has a
quiet corner that would do?

I am looking forward to meeting you and discussing the manifold topics
that have been raised by now.

Very best, Elvira

Dear network-members,
unfortunatelly I can not come to Trento in December. It is beyond my power and my budget, and most of all my teaching activities at the moment.
I will miss you and this cosy town!
Enjoy and all the best,
Helene

Dear all
I have just spend a very time with Sharon here in Denmark and we have decided to propose that you all come to Denmark when we host the EASST in 2012 and that we make the workshop-sessions (we should be able to fill out at least two or three) on feminism and physics themes and then maybe if you feel like it proceed with and anthology. What we would like to take up are the really deep implications of the last decade on feminist research in physics: for epistemology, ontology and the relations between them. So put our research in relation to the work on objectivity initiated by Haraway and Harding and continued by Barad. Does it matter - or rather: what difference does it make with more or less women in physics.
I know Sharon has joined our google-group - but to be sure I put you on, Sharon so we can continue our discussions. I also put on my former UPGEM partners who might want to join us. And yes - I plan to go to Trento, but have not registred because I was not sure how it went with my father. But he is better, and I am returning to business-as-usual. I also plan to go to Uppsala, as we planned, Elvira, in the spring (March and April), so we can talk it over there.
Please join the group Anna Maria, Kristina and Endla if you want to continue our discussions on women in physics.
Many greetings Cathrine
