The adulteration control is an important pre-screening test for drug-testing. (The adulteration tests are optional, customers can distinguish them from the pouch label).
A urine drug test, also known as a urine drug screen or a UDS, is a painless test generally administered by a health care professional who is trained in the proper procedures of collection and interpretation of results. The test cup strips analyze urine for the presence of drugs and prescription medications using an absorbent lateral flow membrane that reacts to the presences of drug metabolites in the urine.
Depending on the configuration of the strips on the cup, a single test can screen for up to 18 substances from a single specimen. The urine drug test usually screens for drugs of abuse but can also be used to ensure compliance with prescribed medications. The UDS is a quantitative test. Quantitative testing measures the amount of a substance present in a urine sample. Each individual test strip has a cutoff level in most cases determined by the FDA.
A urine drug test can help detect potential substance abuse problems. After a drug test identifies drugs that may have been misused or abused, a loved one can help the individual start a substance abuse treatment plan. At home Urine Drug Test Kits are a safe, discreet and effective way to determine if a potential problem exists.
Urinalysis drugs of abuse assays provide only a preliminary qualitative test result. To obtain a confirmed quantitative analytical result a more specific method must be used. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) or liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) are the preferred confirmatory methods. It will be important to apply clinical and professional judgment to any drugs of abuse test result, particularly when preliminary positive results are received.

If youʼre new to drugs and drug testing, it might feel overwhelming to have to learn all of the names of the drugs, the types of drug test kits available, the terminology -- and even the abbreviations that the drug testing industry uses to refer to each drug.
Almost all manufacturers use the same abbreviations. The only exceptions are Benzodiazepines, known as both BZO and BZD, and Opiates, known as OPI, OPI300 and MOP -- with the latter two representing the Opiate panel with the lower cutoff level of 300 ng/ml.
So now that you know what those abbreviations stand for, you need a sense of the window of detection for each drug. As you look at the drug detection times for drug testing, keep in mind that thereʼs always some variation in drug detection times. Things including body weight, frequency of use, rate of metabolism, hydration levels, route of administration and other factors can impact the rate of detection.
Based on the needs of your business and the regulations that may pertain to your industry, you may need any number of types of drug screens. Drug test kits are available in urine and saliva test formats, with dip, test cup or cassette-style tests.
Urine Dip Tests available for 1-12 different drugs
Urine Test Cups available for 4-14 different drugs
Urine Cassette Tests available for 1-13 different drugs
Saliva Tests available for 5-10 different drug
Saliva-based Alcohol Tests available
