Are the joke posts just spam or does someone actualy think they are
funny?

Spam. This is a known issue with googlegroups spam filtering. AFAIK
it's being worked on.

thanx, i just didnt see what was funny so wanted to know if someone
just had a strange sense of humor. besides the fact that the sites had
virus written all over them

I had to make the Columbus RepRap group invite-only because of them.
I rejected that same user earlier today.

I'm willing to turn on moderation on the group if folks feel this is a
problem. Are people OK with that?

And yeah, google groups spam filters are failing pretty hard nowadays.
I'm getting spam on the svn commit lists, for crying out loud.
