I need some answers regarding and 1999 GEM E825 that has not been used
for more
than a year been sitting in a garage. Trouble with charging the
batteries, the
onboard charger is not working. I have charged each battery
individually and
have the system up to 95% charged. Disconnected the overheat relay and
still no
onboard charging. The batteries are Trojan 30XHS.

First of all, how old are the batteries?  Did you check the water in the batteries? If so, then what is happening to the charger? Is it working? Is there an alarm? Please let me know and we can proceed.
You stated you disconnected the overheat relay.. The charger will not work with the relay disconnected (I suspect you mean the sensor that is placed on the front battery)

Hi Carl,
The batteries are maybe 2 years old not for sure. Topped off with
water, none of the batteries were really low. I tried disconnecting
the temperature sensor on the battery charger and still the charger
would not work. Checked voltage going to charger and it was good. I
charged each battery with a shop charger and brought them up to around
12.50 volts each. Any recomeandations where to get a charger from or
should I look into up grading the charger.

Thanks,
John

a new 12V battery should max out to ~13.5V, if your charged cells are
saying 12.5 try charging them until they get over 13V.
I invested in one of those battery chargers/de-oxidizers that claim to
use frequencies to remove the plaque off the battery lead sheets.
I have noticed better performance and better voltage chargeup from the
batteries i've used this on.

If your batteries where sitting for a year or more and they are a few years old I usually have found that the baterys need to be replaced.

I have a gem now that has betrays that are about two years old and the car sat for 9 months and well the batteries just will not take a proper charge .

WHen you plug in the car, does the light come on on the dash
indicating the charger is functioning? Or does it immediately go to
red flashing and beeping?

Does the charger have an alarm or is there nothing (fan noise or any noise for that matter) coming from the charger? It sounds like there is a blown fuse in the charger. I would also recommend you upgrade the charger. This can be done thru Zivan. If you need any help give me a call 760/641-1100

Thanks Guys,

I have no light on this one. I did check the voltage going to the
charger and it was good but nothing coming out of charger no fan
running just nothing. Do you know of a fuse that might be inside the
charger that I can check? I will continue to charge with by shop
charger to see if I can get the batterys over 13 volts to.

Thanks,
John
