Hi, i hope you all are having nice Hollidays

I intend to use gem5-gpu for my research. I was following the steps in the tutorial, and got the part where you install gpgpu-sim either easy or the hard way.

I plann to do it the hard way in order to have more control.

I discovered first that the repository in this line doesnt exists anymore

git clone git://dev.ece.ubc.ca/gpgpu-sim gpgpu-sim-complete

Instead, the code is now on

Then, i tried to execute this line, for updating to the gpgpu-sim-sha version, which is needed,

git checkout cc61b09b46c25c1ce491bf80808b9c6fe6cd0b7e

but then the following error occurs.

fatal: reference is not a tree: cc61b09b46c25c1ce491bf80808b9c6fe6cd0b7e

Do you no longer support the full gpgpu-sim control version of gem5-gpu, or where is my mistake?
Thanks in advance,

Luis Freire

Hi Luis,

It looks like the GPGPU-Sim people changed all of the hashes when they moved from self-hosted git to github.

Here is what the old hash points to:
commit cc61b09b46c25c1ce491bf80808b9c6fe6cd0b7e
Merge: 72aaaf6 0a8b1f4
Author: Tor Aamodt <aam...@ece.ubc.ca>
Date:   Thu Oct 31 15:11:25 2013 -0700

    Merge branch 'dev'

    Conflicts:
        v3.x/CHANGES
        v3.x/README
        v3.x/version

The remote that has this hash is git://dev.ece.ubc.ca/gpgpu-sim. I just pulled from it, so I think it's still active.

Hopefully this will get you started. Once you figure out the new hash, let me know and I'll update the google doc.

Cheers,
Jason
