GELT OPEN HOUSE TOMORROW!! Saturday Nov 19th. 4-8 p.m.

Hey GELTers,

I would like to send out a friendly reminder about our open house this Saturday 4-8pm at 116 Candler Street in Highland Park.

 

You all are the main reason we have been succussful in Highland Park and we want to celebrate your work this weekend!  I apologize for not sending a formal invite to you all earlier, sometimes I get so caught up in the work here that I lose contact with folks, we also have terrible internet.  We have a lot of updates we would love to have your feedback, or even better your participation in that are going to be on display this weekend. 

In the past few months we have:

• Expanded GELT's summer program to schools. A project called, GELT EDU, has launched in Northpoint Academy's sixth grade class.  
• Hired a new full time Urban Farm Manager, Russ Shy. Our hoop house is flourishing with hearty winter crops and we began selling to Eastern Market.
• Made huge improvements on our building! We have remodeled a kitchen and bathroom. We are incorporating sustainability measures such as installing a "grey water" system which reuses water from the sink to flush a toilet, have insulated and weatherized select rooms and started experimenting with growing food indoors.  

This is just the tip of the iceberg. This Saturday we will be unveiling architectural renderings of the plan for 116 Candler. We will also discuss the Highland Park High School sustainability center and urban farm we are creating.

Scott is hard at work creating the "Direction Nourishment Courtyard" that will be full of exciting food and beverages depending on the stage of life you are currently in.  Think the "trifecta" on steroids.... I mean organic wheatgrass :)

Anyway... we love you all, and we would love to see you tomorrow if you can make it down to H.P and if not, give me a call some time soon or email me.  Let's keep the green economy on the rise!
