I tried to convert/export a bunch of MP3 files from an online course I purchased to AAC so that I could listen to the modules on my iPhone. However, as you can see from the attached screenshot, after conversion in AME the files show in Windows Exlorer as "ADTS Audio". They don't play or get recognised in iTunes even though the file extention is AAC.

You could also try a two-step approach: Convert the mp3 file to uncompressed WAV files using Adobe Media Encoder. Then, import the resulting WAV files into your iTunes library with the iTunes import preferences set to the audio file format that you want to use.

Yes I do have iTunes installed and managed to do exactly what I wanted, which was to convert MP3s to smaller files in the AAC format so they don't take up as much space on my cloud storage or my iPhone.

The point is that converting MP3s in iTunes is very convoluted compared to using AME. What I don't understand is why AME doesn't produce AAC files in a way that iTunes does. How do I get AME to encode files as "MPEG-4 Audio" instead of what it does at the moment which is "ADTS Audio".

I can sort of do it if i set the format to H.264 and un-check the video and only export the audio. The audio will come in a .mp4 wrapping instead of a .aac wrapping. H.264 is MPEG4. Maybe worth trying?

It seems strange that I'm the only one that has this problem. Out of all the professional audio people out in the world, surely they can't all use iTunes to convert audio files to AAC? That doesn't make sense to me.

iTunes does play MP3s of course. However, I can get higher compression with AAC. AAC files optimized for the Spoken Word take up less space on my OneDrive account. It looks like I will be using iTunes to convert to AAC in future instead of Media Encoder.

Convert audio to Base64 online and use the result string as data URI, HTML object, JavaScript Audio, and others. Sometimes you have to send or output a sound file within a text document (for example, HTML, JSON, XML), but you cannot do this because binary characters will damage the syntax of the text document. To prevent this, for example, you can encode sound file to Base64 and embed it using the data URI. Please note that the audio to Base64 encoder accepts any sound files types with a size of up to 50 MB. If you are looking for the reverse process, check Base64 to Audio.

The Audio to Base64 converter generates ready-made examples, depending on the selected output format. It automatically detects the content type of the uploaded sound file, so that you simply copy the complete result. If you need to encode specific audio formats, please follow the links below:

AU is a special audio format that can only be played using Audacity. Unfortunately, I want a format that is more inclusive. I tried to use a free online audio converter to help me convert the format, but the effect is not ideal, some cannot recognize the AU format, some have poor sound quality after conversion, and even some files There are also advertisements after downloading, thinking and making me worry about the safety of my computer and files. At present, the most satisfactory desktop converter I have used is the iMyMac Video Converter, but my free trial period has expired. Is there any other free converter?

Audacity is the only program I know of that can read .AUP and .AUP3 files. To convert these files to a different format, simply load the project into Audacity and File > Export into whatever format you please.

The current version of Audacity can read both .AUP and .AUP3 files. If you have only the older .AUP projects (and associated data directories) you can load 2.4.2 from here: Old Audacity versions download

File extension.AWBCategory FileDescriptionThe Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband (AMR-WB) audio format, also known as the wideband speech codec, is a compression algorithm designed to encode speech with higher fidelity and clarity than the traditional narrowband codecs. AMR-WB supports a wide frequency range, from 50 Hz to 7 kHz, and provides a sampling rate of 16 kHz, allowing for the capture of more detailed nuances in human speech. This makes it an ideal choice for applications that require high-quality voice recordings, such as teleconferencing, voice over IP (VoIP), and mobile phone networks. The AMR-WB format can be used with a range of file extensions, including .awb, .amr, and .3gp, and is supported by most modern multimedia devices, including smartphones, tablets, and computers. Despite its high level of fidelity, AMR-WB files are relatively small in size, making them easy to store, transfer, and share. Whether you're recording a podcast, conducting an interview, or just chatting with friends, the AMR-WB format provides a reliable and efficient way to capture high-quality audio.Associated programsTotal Audio ConverterDeveloped byMIME typeUseful linksMP3 FileFile extension.MP3CategoryAudio FileDescriptionMP3 is the most popular audio file type based on MPEG-1 Layer III compression. Its lossy algorithm was developed in 1991. MP3 codes the sound almost with the same quality, as CD (16-bit stereo), providing compression in size 1 to 10 from the original WAF or AIFF tracks. The quality of MP3 seriously depends on the bitrate. It can be 128 - 256 kbps. Higher bitrates are also supported, but they seriously increase the file size. AWB, an acronym for Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband, is primarily used for voice recordings on mobile devices. It represents a codec optimized for encoding human speech at a high quality, leveraging a wider frequency range than its predecessor, AMR. As such, AWB offers clearer and more detailed voice recordings, especially suited for modern mobile communication. In contrast, MP3, developed by the Moving Picture Experts Group, is a well-established format for encoding music and other audio content. It excels in compressing audio into smaller files, making it ideal for storage and streaming, while still maintaining a relatively high quality. MP3's widespread acceptance is a testament to its balance of size and fidelity, coupled with its extensive device and software supportConverting AWB to MP3 often stems from a desire for broader compatibility and versatility. While AWB captures voice with precision, MP3 offers a more universally playable format, ensuring the audio can be played back on nearly any device or platform.
