GXWorks2is a software package produced by Mitsubishi Electric to program its PLCs. It is a complete integration package that houses the configuration function of the intelligent function module and the simulation function needed for PLC programming.

GXWorks2 is an all-inclusive software that supports all engineering aspects, including system design, programming, debugging, and maintenance. In addition, the old Mitsubishi software GX Developer assets have been integrated into GX Works2.

Mitsubishi PLCs can be programmed using IEC languages such as the ladder, sequential function chart (SFC), structured text (ST), and function block diagram (FBD). In addition, Mitsubishi PLCs that can be programmed using GXWorks2 include the A-series, Q series, FX series, L series, and A-series range of PLCs.

Project: The project bar is used to perform operations that relate to the project, such as new project, save, delete, change PLC type, add intelligent function module, library functions, etc.

Online: The online bar performs operations for the PLC such as reading to a controller, writing from a controller, remote operations, PLC memory operations, and monitoring and watching operations for signals.

Parameter: The parameter section is used to configure the PLC parameter setting under which you can perform add IO device assignment, Ethernet configuration, boot settings, and program control settings. Also, this sub-section has remote password operation and network configuration.

Intelligent function Module: Intelligent function modules are modules that perform specific operations that have their configuration methods, such as Analog modules, Modbus, temperature modules, AS-I, and counter modules.

The settings of all devices, be it data registers, timers, counters, or edge relays, can be set for Device settings. The latch areas determine the range of addresses that should be latched in case a power trip occurs and PLC has to power cycle. This will store the last memory state of that particular device.

The Q68ADI is an Analog input module with eight channels, while the Q68DAIN is an analog output module while eight channels. This is because the ADI stands for analog to digital while the DAIN stands for digital to analog.

Mitsubishi PLC programming using GXWorks 2 is a very easy-to-use software for programming its range of PLCs. This tutorial has given the basics needed to start with Mitsubishi PLC programming. Further practice should be done to familiarize oneself with the programming environment.

Mitsubishi Electric brand software (MELSOFT) provides an integrated product suite to reduce the total cost of ownership and speed up time to market. During the engineering stage, MELSOFT products are used to design systems encompassing the entire portfolio of automation products. Powerful simulation tools are used to reduce programming and debug time. Machine operators benefit from visualization products to further increase operation efficiencies. A broad range of maintenance tools are also available to decrease time to repair. Empowering people to perform their job functions in the least amount of time and with minimum effort is why MELSOFT products are preferred by automation professionals around the world.

iQ Works is a comprehensive software suite that enables intuitive programming and setup of any Mitsubishi Electric system, including network configuration, PLC programming, motion controller and servo setup, GOT screen design, and robot configuration. Simulators and label sharing are also integrated to simplify cross-discipline engineering and troubleshooting. The highly graphical and fully customizable workspace provides a user-friendly interface with full visibility and control over the entire system.

GX Works3 is the programming and configuration software for iQ-F and iQ-R controllers. GX Works2 is the programming and configuration software for FX, L, and Q Series controllers. Following the goal of maximum efficiency, GX Works2 & GX Works3 conform to IEC61131-3 standards, allowing developers to mix and match between five different programming languages and save parts of projects in libraries for use within future applications.

MX Component is an Active X control library supporting various Mitsubishi Electric communication paths, from the PC to Mitsubishi Electric PLCs. MX Component enables the development of a wide variety of applications by supporting various languages, such as Visual Basic, Visual C++, Access, VBA of Excel and VB Script.

GX Works2 Structured Programming (TRSFT104P)

This course introduces the concepts of structured programming. This includes the structured ladder, structured text, and sequential function chart programming languages.

I am new in Mitsubishi Robot programming and need some help. I use at present RT TOOL BOX 3. I want to rotate the joint 6 with "for loop" 10 times(for an example 360/10=36deg each time). How can I rotate the Joint 6 with "for loop"

I have one question. Is it possible to write a programm that roboter goes up and joint 6 rotet 1 time then it goes down and comes up same height and then rotet joint 6 again 1 time. this process run may be 10 times. I try with for loop with previous code, but problem is every time joint 6 comes to its initial position and then rotet. I understand the cause behind that. If I try to save the position Upward or downward of the roboter with P_Curr it saves only either upwards or downwards position and joint 6 comes back to its initial position.

I'm currently a student in college in a PLC Programming degree. I bought a couple of Mitsubishi Melsec FX-32MR PLCs (used) so I could do my own projects or help with my classes. So far though, I'm having trouble finding the demo software online - probably because the model was discontinued so long ago (the file sharing sites I tried didn't work out). I did a little digging and it seems that the FX can be programmed using the GX developer software, alongside the FX0,FX1, etc. models. Mitsubishi doesn't seem to have anything more than a brief blurb about this model, so I'm doubtful that they would have software for this still (I intend to try calling during the week).

I'm curious if anyone knows of some sites that still would have the software for an old PLC like this uploaded somewhere. Where possible, I'd prefer to avoid spending more money, but it does look like there are online sellers with the software - Amazon Example. If I can't get free software, can I trust online sellers like the linked example, without any reviews? Or is there a better option? Or would I need to find a less outdated kind of PLC instead?

Are you sure the FX-32 type is right? If so, you also need a special programming adapter (if still available?). If it is a FX0(s)/FX1(s) or FX1N/FX2N model you need GX-Developer (part of GX-Works2 or IQ-Works. To connect to your PC you need a serial programming cable SC-09 however you are still using old technology which is not sold or supported anymore.

I think that you are better of to contact the local Mitsubishi distributor and ask an offer for a introduction kit with a FX3GE or FX5 type PLC, (optional, depends on the intro kit) a GT touch screen, software IQ-Works and a USB programming cable. Most of the time they have a special offer to buy these components in an introduction kit for 1/3 of the real value. Updates are free if you register at the My.Mitsubishi portal.

However, if you still want to stick with the PLC's you've purchased, there is a DEMO version of both GX Developer and GX IEC Developer that can handle up to 1000steps. The Amazon link you provided are exactly this, together with a training course, so basically what you are paying for here is the training course and NOT the software...

If I were you I would contact your local Mitsubishi dealer and ask for an introduction package like @Theo V suggests. Alternatively if you don't have the money, ask them about the DEMO version of software.

You can definitely use GX Developer 8 to program your PLC. I have also succesfully used the newer GX Works 2. If you can't find a demo version that will work, the cost of the new software is very reasonable compared to most major PLC brands. I would actually recommend buying the newest GX Works 3, as that comes with GX Works 2 and GX Developer. That way you will be able to program pretty much any Mitsubishi PLC over the past 30 years.
