Weare running X6 in our shop. We have 2 seats of Mill level 3, 1 seat of Lathe and 1 seat of Solids. We just recently switched over to using a NHasp on our server. Now every so often we are not able to access the Solids Options. When we look at the "Active Licenses" in the NHasp software it shows that, although no seats of Mastercam are active, Solids is being used so we have no access. Has anyone had a issue with the NHasp not letting go of the Solids? When our IT department resets the server drive it will then release the Solids and I am able to access it then. This happens every few days.

Download and install the Aladdin Hasp monitor. It can be installed on a workstation and doesn't need administrator rights to use. When installed on a NetHASP server and run with admin rights you can control the HASP services as well as monitor with it.

Once installed you'll be able to determine which workstation(s), via IP address and hostname, has the Solids license(s) checked out. Launch Mastercam on that workstation, then Settings -> NetHASP Licensing -> Select the Solid addon -> Release.

Also, make sure Mastercam users exit the program cleanly. If it crashes, it'll hang a license. If users log off Windows without exiting Mastercam first, it'll hang a license. If the computer crashes, again, a license will hang. Re-launching Mastercam and cleanly exiting it will release it.

To get the nhasp to release a license do you have to reboot the server? I.T. doesn't like to reboot because it kicks other users off of other stuff. Can you just unplug the nhasp and plug back in or would it damage something?

To repeat, I've never needed to restart the hard lock server service to release hung licenses. I always use the Aladdin Monitor to determine which workstation is hanging the license and deal with it on the workstation. The only time I do restart the hard lock server service is after updating license renewal hasp codes even though I'm pretty sure it doesn't need to be done.

I followed the advice in this forum about the aladdin software. I found that I had to install static IP's because some some computers show the actual name and IP, while others display "pool" followed by the IP so it was hard to find the culprit since IP's were reassigned at random. Because of frustration with this people were shutting down he hasp and slowing program production. Just saying thanks for leading me to a solution. Now to tackle locked programs using Cimco.

Ok, have new nethasp and work with X6 but getting error with V9 "Error checking out a Mill Level 3 License. No active NETHASP license manager was found. Have issuse with both win7 64 bit and XP systems

The Licence Manager is only required if you use a dongle in network access mode. It is a program that runs on your dongle server machine that allows access to the dongle from any machine on the network.

The Licence Manager issues licences from the network dongle in response to requests from Orcina programs. When all of the licences stored in the dongle controlled by the licence manager have been issued then no more copies of the program can be run and further licence requests are refused. When an Orcina program is closed the licence is returned to the licence manager and it is available for re-issue. If the Orcina application terminates abnormally (e.g. due to a power failure) then the Licence Manager keeps that licence assigned to that user for up to 15 minutes in case the Orcina program is restarted. After this period the licence is returned to the pool of available licences. If the dongle is removed or the server or network fails to respond (continuously, or for more than a few brief interruptions) then the program will be unable to verify that its licence is current and will warn the user and stop.

The Windows version of the licence manager software and associated configuration files and utilities are located on the Orcina CD (in Dongle\Network), or can be downloaded from the Orcina website at www.orcina.com/support/licencesupport/. The Licence Manager is also available for other platforms from the dongle manufacturers website: www.aladdin.com/support/hasp/enduser.asp.

Run the program LMSetup.exe (from the Orcina CD in Dongle\Network, or extracted from the downloaded file LMSetup.zip. Under Windows NT/2000/XP you are given the option of installing the Licence Manager as a Windows service. This is the recommended option, as it ensures that the Licence Manager will always be running, even if no user is logged on. The Licence Manager service appears as an icon on the task bar. Otherwise, the Licence Manager is installed as a standard application, in which case you should place a shortcut to the Licence Manager in the Startup folder so it is run automatically after a reboot. When the licence manager program is running, it appears as an icon on the task bar. To quit the licence manager program, open the icon and use the Exit menu.

1. Make sure that the hasp license manger is installed and running correctly on the server.

(Server = computer where dongle is connected). The hasp license manager can be

installed in two ways:

2. You need to define in each client the IP of the server. You do this using the "Nethasp.ini"

file. Please note that in case of running InventorCAM the nethasp.ini file should also be

located in the IV folder.(See

_SolidCAM_Ne

twork_Dongle.pdf for instructions )

3. Make sure that the server has a static IP address and that the clients and server can

communicate properly. You can troubleshoot this using "Aladdin Monitor" available at

this address:

_releases/utility/monitor/Monitor_Setup.zip

The monitor utility should be installed on the client and basically what it does is indicate

in what IP addresses HASP License Managers are available. You need to make sure that

on the client computer you can see the server and that you have the right IP address

defined in the nethasp.ini file. You need the monitor only for troubleshooting.

4. If the nethasp.ini file is defined correctly and the client can recognize the server (in

Aladdin Monitor) and the software does not run you can try disabling the broadcast

parameter in the nethasp.ini file. Some networks block broadcasting and it can fail the

software. (You disable the broadcast in nethasp.ini file. "NH_USE_BROADCAST =

Disabled". Two parameters below server address.
