I know this is a Google group, so I am hoping that you can tell me if this is a problem or not.

I went to signup for Peardeck.  I wanted to login under Google.  When I started the login screen says, "This will allow Pear Deck to see and download all of your Google Drive files."

When I clicked the informational Google ? button it said, Peardeack will

See your Google Drive files.

Download your Google Drive files.

See the names and emails of people that you share files with.

Note: There may be private information in your Google Drive-- like financial records, medical reports, or tax information.

Is this common now?  My drive is shared with my district, so there is a lot of information about IEPs, IATs, grades, etc.

What are they doing with this information? Why do they need to see my drive?  I can upload the files they need to work with on the program.

I sell on TPT, if someone gives them access, they can get my files for free.

Please shed some light on this.

It's the same thing with Nearpod, maybe worse, because they can change the people you share files with.
I don't feel comfortable with these conditions, so I don't use it.

I believe this is the “lingo” Google uses, but it refers to only files you connect with that app. Yes, it sounds very scary, but I’ve been told by various companies and even some tech gurus (like Alice Keeler, etc.) that they cannot see “all files” in your Drive. But I still don’t use apps/addons from unknown or unresearched sources!

Perhaps someone with more Google connections can verify this as things are changing lately with access issues and probably these terms as well???
