Schedule Send a Weekly Email in Gmail

One of my teachers is looking for a way to send the same email in Gmail on a weekly basis. We know how to schedule send in Gmail but she needs the message to continue to be sent each week.

Before we try out a few extensions, I am hoping that a few of you already have something that works well. I am familiar with Boomerang and found Recurring emails for Gmail, Recurring Email, Mail Boss and RightInbox in the Chrome Web Store.

I recommend skipping browser extensions and the Chrome Web Store for this task. Instead, use Google Apps Script within Google Sheets. With Apps Script, you can create a trigger that automatically sends the email each week.

Since I have never used Apps Script, I asked Gemini to write the script for me. This link not only includes the script but also directions for how to set up the sheet and how to make the script work. I ran a test of the script and confirmed that an email was successfully sent to me. I won't know for sure if everything is working right until Monday.

The only thing that I did differently from the directions was that after I completed step 6 (Run createWeeklyTrigger), I had to click Stop to gain access to the drop down menu. After I ran sendWeeklyEmail to test the script, I clicked Stop, changed the function back to createWeeklyTrigger, and clicked Run.

It worked! I received the automatic email Monday morning. 

I talked with another teacher who asked about this. She needs to send email reminders based on our six day schedule which would be more complicated since weekends are not included.
