I'm sad that Google is ending Jamboard - I use it all the time and love the simplicity for students.

I see that Google has recommended FigJam, Lucidspark, and Miro.  I haven't used any of those yet.  Does anyone have recommendations?

Hi Holly - in my edu tech circles, FigJam is the preferred alternative (actually, before Jamboard got depreciated, many have been talking about how FigJam is better than Jamboard) check out this great guide: https://tommullaney.com/2023/09/28/the-teachers-guide-for-transitioning-from-jamboard-to-figjam

I am hoping that Google includes one of the alternatives in Google Workspace or provides a way for Google Workspace users to access the pro/premium features at no additional cost. I read the official announcement from Google. It mentions several alternatives but does not say that they would be provided for free.

Google and Figma teamed up and facilitated free pro Figma accounts to be made available to educators.  Here's a link to get the free pro access: https://www.figma.com/education.

Figjam is my Jamboard replacement, so I'm not sure about free pro versions of the other two platforms that Google recommended in their FAQ, Lucid and Miro.

Thank you for sharing this information! When I first looked at the pricing page for FigJam, I did not scroll down the page to see the note that the Professional version is free to students and educators.

When I clicked through the prompts to request the educator upgrade I found that the terms of service require users to confirm that they are at least 13 years old. I also found that when I shared a file with my student account using a shared link, I could not edit or add anything without creating an account which required clicking through several prompts. Does anyone know if there is a provision for students under 13? Would using Clever for student logins simplify the process?

Thank you.

I found that Figjam offers a form for schools to complete to request access for students under 13.

Thanks so much, Arlin, for this extra info - we're still in the conversation stage at my district so this is great to know now!
