Hello all & happy new year!  Not a Google-specific question but I know the experience of the members here stretch far and wide...

I'm trying to help one of my teachers and I'm hoping that someone here has some experience to share.

He's a Forensics teacher looking to digitally capture and save/print his student's fingerprints.  Not looking for a security scanner (like one you would use as a password access manager) but a scanner that will output a JPG (or any other image format) of the user's actual fingerprint.

I've done some research (below) and I think these options might work.  I'm not sure how to differentiate which scanners will just scan for a match vs scan to a new file.  They all seem to require a PC for driver software which makes sense.  If it has to be a PC device, guess that's what it will be, but he'd ideally like to find one that can be used on our Chromebooks (which might require an associated app which would be OK if it's even possible).

He can physically collect the fingerprint through various means and then photograph it digitally, but he was looking for a clean, digital one-and-done scan-to-JPG option.

Thanks for any experience, ideas or products you can share!

PS: I even tried to see what our office scanner could do (see below), and despite testing with different pressures, still nothing useful (and putting ink or graphite on my finger first might increase the quality but would make a mess of our scanner glass each time, so might as well use paper then take a picture at that point.)

Just dropping this here in case anyone else finds themselves asking the same question (or has advice specific to this device).

Once we figure out how to get it paid for, we're going to purchase this and see how it works:
