One of our local districts asked our EdTech Team if we had a "list" of AI resources that were safe to use. All I could find was a Privacy Evaluation from Common Sense Media for Magic School, so using their evaluation framework, I have been evaluating tools
(still many to be done!) and recording my findings in this
Privacy
and Safety Check Google Sheet.
I am at the point where I am reaching out to vendors to verify my findings (using publicly available Privacy Policies and Terms of Service and Notebook LM to summarize) - so far only Eduaide and Magic School have.
🎤 My ask of this group:
-
I would love any constructive feedback that would make this resource more useful to educators, tech departments, and administrators - is there anything that would be helpful that is missing from this resource?
-
Does anyone have any direct contacts with any of these vendors so I can try to get more verifications?
Please feel free to share within your districts or schools - the goal is not just to provide the information, but make sure we are helping educators think through a critical lens before using a tool and so that adults and students can keep themselves safe when
using AI tools.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Sarah
