Hey,

i just installed the currently latest version of the CuBox dev snapshots and tried to setup smbd.

Installing with opkg worked, but starting smbd afterwards is futile:

Manually starting (i.e. smbd -i or smbd -F) and starting with systemctl always results in prematurely exiting without any output.
I also tried running with a minimalist config file, but no effect.

Please help, thx

PS: I tested it now in snapshot 20130501 and it worked fine - i think there got something broken with 20130503...

Hello,
snapshot 20130503 is revision 16135 ans 20130501 is revision 16133
between this 2 revisions, nothing that can impact smbd was committed ... see http://hg.openbricks.org/openbricks/shortlog

how did you test smbd ?
did you install geexbox from regular tar.bz2 file , unpack it then use the correct link in /etc/opkg/opkg.conf to install smbd, ie :
- for 20130503 : http://download.geexbox.org/snapshots/geexbox-xbmc-armada5xx-cubox/20130503/binaries.cubox/packages/
- for 20130501 : http://download.geexbox.org/snapshots/geexbox-xbmc-armada5xx-cubox/20130501/binaries.cubox/packages/

or did you update / upgrade from previous revision ?

Cheers,

Tom

Hey,

i used the correct opkg links like you described.

I ran

smbd -F

and

systemctl start smbd

it works here with package samba-server downloaded from 20130503 directory

# systemctl status smbd
