Today we talked more about the next things we want to pursue next (such as OpenCV), and we talked about the possibility of using Python for development.  I mentioned that Matplotlib is a good platform for doing AI/ML (instead of C++, Octave, or R).  Here is a link to my blog post about Matplotlib: http://www.calebmadrigal.com/first-look-at-pylab-matplotlib/.  At the bottom of the post is a link to the Pycon 2012 video which gives a 3 hour "introduction" to using Matplotlib for plotting.

I also looked more into the Python version of OpenCV, and it sounds mature and complete: http://opencv.willowgarage.com/wiki/.  It's also interesting that the first 4 links when I googled for "opencv python" are "...willowgarage.com".  That is the robotics company that John just mentioned to me a few weeks ago.  They sound pretty awesome, but they charge $400,000 for one of their robots :)

It's also interesting that OpenCV plays a central roll in WillowGarage's software stack.  Also, ROS looks interesting.
