It's simple, yet breathtakingly profound. It makes you think. Why were
the shoes never worn? There's a lot of emotion you can read into that
simple sentence, and it sparks your imagination to fill in the blanks
left behind by a master storyteller. Let's try to come up with our own
six-word stories. Reply to this thread and submit your own. We'll
feature what we can at the next meeting in April.
Rules: It must be six words: no more, no less. Contractions are ok,
but consider your word choices carefully. The story must be
grammatically correct.
It's harder than it sounds. This took me a while, but here's my first story:
Once discovered, he disappeared in smoke.

I've even teased myself with the same challenge from time to time, but
God help me I always end up trying to sell some article of clothing
more heartbreaking.

Terrific puzzle! We had the whole family toying with this one around the dinner table tonight.
I kept getting stuck on:
I think, but I cannot write.
Here's a better one though. It is a hand written dedication I wrote inside the first copy of my first published book that I ever signed:
For you, my love. Every word.
I went and looked in the book to make sure I was remembering it right. It was exactly six words and I wrote it several years before Tim sent this challenge. That was a neat find for me.
Here are some of my more story driven ideas:
"The magic is very strong today!"
He leapt, trusting in her arrival.
The baby smiled, she started crying.
Dana Gray is more clever than me and came up with:
Metal scrapes metal, glass shatters everywhere.
Tear of grief mar her smile.
The panel of judges stop arguing.
Too many shots does not exist.
My little brother, Andrew Gray, came up with:
I'm a beginner, so don't laugh.
There was only one conversation left.

Two more:
The perfect recipe: just add passion.
The Mountie began searching in Texas.

Clearly, I had underestimated the applesauce.
