Collins would probably be great for the events that need many small
rooms, and their A/V should be great, since it's a brand new facility.
I'd like to see what Desert Willow has to offer. I checked out the
floor plan they have on their web site. Their biggest room fits about
500 people, sitting theater-style. This could present a challenge if
we have popular keynote speakers at any of the events. We can always
send a video feed to a projector in another room (the next biggest
room is 200). It should be acceptable, but I would like to see what
the other event organizers think. I am in favor of bursting at the
seams a little bit.
We should see if Collins is interested in playing ball. I'm curious
how "cheap" Desert Willow will be for us. Francine, do you have a
contact there that would be cutting us a deal? Or is it just cheaper
than comparable venues?
I'm not sure if I'll be able to do a walk-through any time soon. I'm
going to CA for a week, then I should be back in town for a couple of
days before leaving again for SXSW.
