All,

We met with the Tempe Center for the Arts about Ignite #5, and unfortunately there is a play setting up in the theater the week of Geek Week (9th onwards). I put in a request to the theater group to see if we could use part of the stage for one night (we only need the apron, not the full stage) but they declined.

So we went ahead and took the Tuesday prior to Geek Week (Nov 3rd), which is before set up starts. It's not in Geek Week itself, but hopefully close enough that we can help promote GW and leverage some of the cross-promotion.

Tempe is very interested in Geek Week and wanted to know how to have more of it in their facilities next time. I told them we would need some venue flexibility, but it sounds like something they would seriously like to discuss for 2010, and I'm happy to facilitate.

Jeff.

I'll help. We work with the economic development organization there
and have for five or six years, and they've sponsored the
Entrepreneurship Conferences as well. They love to help tech events
happen there, and they have some great locations. I'm copying in
Sheri Saenz, their economic development director, and Alex Smith, her
cohort. Sheri and Alex, GeekWeekAZ is a broadening of the
Enterpreneurship Conference into a collaboration among many tech
groups to produce an event in November that could bring people to AZ
from out of town. In 2009 it will be scattered all over Phoenix and
Tempe, but by 2010...
